The brewing trade required coopers to make tight casks and fermenting vessels. Coopers were vital to the wine and whiskey trades as well as any trade that needed to store and transport good. There were no cardboard boxes in 1776. As the trades of coopers, distillers, wine and cider makers were interconnected, I though it would be interesting to see who these men were.
The Special Interest section highlights the coopers in Allegheny County as well as the distillers as well as the whiskey, wine, mead, and cider makers. The Brewers sections is more subject specific and deals with brewing firms and brewery history. The General Interest section is just that. All in all what is found in one section will lead in some way to another.
As I have said, beer connects everything.
